Dealing With Office Romance

Maintaining a romantic relationship with one of the women in your office has both its good and its bad. For men, the decision to continue a relationship with a co-worker should depend on how serious you really feel.

 

What’s good about it

The best thing about having a girlfriend who works in the same place is that you get to spend more time together and can plan dates easily. It also allows you to keep an eye on her (if she’s the type who needs keeping an eye to!).

 

If you two are serious, working in the same place is an advantage to both of you since you get to know each other better. We all know that most people act differently in different settings. On the practical side, you both get to save time and money since there will be no need to drive long miles just to see each other.

 

What’s not so good

A lot of men (and women) still believe that the professional side of one’s life should always be separate from the personal side. The problem with office romance is that almost everyone in the office will be privy to your relationship. Not the very personal ones, of course.

 

If you fight or are not speaking to each other, your officemates would know. If you broke up, it could affect relationship with other people at work and both your professional standings in the office. In addition, if you work in the same department, you might find it hard to act professionally if you have personal problems and both your careers will suffer.

 

Sometimes, seeing a girl day in and day out lessens her mystery and makes her less exciting. Besides, you can get tired of that person after a while. Also, conversations are more interesting if you each have something different to talk about.

 

Our take – only true, absolute lasting love will survive an office setting. And they are really, really rare.
