Making a mean drink is an important part of life. Taking this even further, there are five skills that every man should know when it comes to tending a bar. These skills can be added to your repertoire as ones that can allow you to build up the list of things that you are good at. Here are five things to learn – faking the rest will fare you just fine.
1. Know Your Wines: Knowing wines and being able to keep up in a conversation or to determine the flavors in wine can come from a simple afternoon in a wine class or a visit to a couple local vineyards. Learning this information can allow you pair certain types of wines with certain types of foods and ensure that you look like a pro doing it. For bonus points, learn the lingo associated with the wines!
2. Pour like a Pro: Pouring beer without causing it to foam, or any other drink for that matter shouldn’t be rocket science. Simply pour so the drink slides down the side of the glass and hold the glass on a tilt to achieve this.
3. Make a Mean Martini: You can be a pro at shaken or stirred with a simple recipe book of cocktails which can be obtained from any book store. This recipe book will help you to know drink recipes like the back of your hand.
